Occupational Therapists work in a wide range of settings including outpatient rehabilitation clinics, schools, hospitals, home health, skilled nursing facilities, psychiatric facilities, and community health programs. These professionals work with a variety of diagnoses, including people who have experienced a stroke or other neurological insult, injury at work, post-surgical or orthopedic injury, congenital disorder or developmental condition, cancer, and mental illness. By participating in occupational therapy, the patient can regain, develop, and implement skills that are necessary for functional independence and improved health and well-being. Occupational Therapy helps to prevent injury or the further decline of an existing condition or disability and promotes maximal functional independence and quality of life for the individual, family, and caregivers. Their unique perspective makes our Occupational Therapists a vital part of our health care team.
