| Do Our Athletic Trainers Provide Services Outside Of The High School Sports Arena? | ||||
| Absolutely. Here are a few examples: | ||||
| Our ATC’s enjoy the outreach services they provide not only in the sports arena, but also to the general community. At the Hamilton and B.J. Skelton Career Centers in upstate South Carolina, our ATC’s from Clemson Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation guest lecture in Sports Medicine classes regarding rehabilitation of joints, taping and bracing techniques, injury prevention, nutrition, and sport performance enhancement. Our ATC’s and therapists also visit local communities, schools, and churches to offer presentations on a variety of topics, including osteoporosis, back safety and postural education, injury prevention, and proper therapeutic exercise to enhance one’s golf game. | ||||
Why stop there? The Clemson Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation ATC’s also work with the Greenville Lions Soccer Team, a Professional Development League. Outside of their clinical and field settings, several of our ATC’s and therapists act as the state-wide provider of athletic training and sports medicine services for the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association (SCYSA). In the fall and spring seasons, they cover the State Cups in which approximately 80 teams participate. |

| Our athletic trainers at Sports Plus in Gastonia, North Carolina provide services for five local high schools, a college wooden bat league team, a semi-professional football team, and a soccer club boasting over 400 athletes. Beyond these responsibilities, they also run a free injury clinic once per week for middle school athletes in Gastonia County and provide treatment focusing on performance enhancement for athletes. | ||||
| At Sports Plus in Aiken, South Carolina, our ATC’s provide athletic training coverage for tournaments through the Aiken Soccer Club. Two tournaments, held in May and August, attract up to 200 teams, keeping these athletic trainers involved and committed to the events. | ||||
On Saturday mornings during high school football season, our ATC’s are working bright and early at the “Bump and Bruise Clinics” to provide treatment for post-game injuries. With Orthopedic physicians present to evaluate the injured athlete, the ATC’s provide needed follow-up care, including education for the parents and school personnel, as well as treatment to initiate a protocol for rehabilitation to return the athlete to peak athletic performance. |
||||
| When not on the field or teaching or in the clinic, many of our ATC’s are studying to earn certifications such as their CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or developing new programs in the community and at local high schools to train their athletes year-round and enhance the athlete’s awareness of injury prevention. | ||||
| Our ATC’s are the most dedicated individuals you will find in their specialty, and their commitment both on and off the field is obvious with their wide scope of services directed toward the athlete and the community. | ||||
